Revising My GAME Plan

I am continuing towards my goal of creating student-centered lessons. I have decided to discuss this approach with some of my colleagues to gain their ideas and insights. If they have not used this type of lesson before, I will be interested to see if they become interested in trying it. Perhaps this will turn into something we can collaborate on together, or at least share ideas.

I am also still working with the surveys for student learning styles. It seems like each time I look at them I think of something to add or see something I want to change. I am glad I have the summer to work with them and continue to revise them, so I will be prepared and happy with them when school starts in the fall.

  1. Alison,
I am wondering if you have a few computers inside your classroom? Could one of your centers be social networking?

  2. Most classrooms have at least 2 computers. I think it is a great idea to have one set up for use with social networking. Thanks for the idea!

  3. Alison,

I too like to gather opinions and insights from fellow teachers in my building to help me figure out what I would like to try and have my students do. I think their is a let to be said for the opinions of our veteran teachers. They seem to have a different perspective then what I do at times.

  4. Alison,
Are you thinking about collaborating with colleagues in your content area or across content areas? I have been thinking about a social studies collaboration with science unit, the political and environmental issues associated with the BP oil spill. Still a BIG topic and too much unfolding to tackle at the moment but it begs for further inquiry.

  5. Carrye,

I would love to collaborate with a social studies teacher on a topic like the BP oil spill. I think this is a great way to illustrate how subjects are related and how one thing can impact many different areas.
